About Me
I’m from Athens, GA and matriculated to the University of Georgia for a Bachelors and then Masters in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Throughout my education, I’ve maintained an avid interest in health and wellness which includes movement, nutrition, sleep hygiene, and stress management. I was a national and then world level road cyclist and have transitioned to an avid love of mountain biking. I attended Medical School and Columbia College of P&S in Manhattan and then completed my residency training in Adult Psychiatry at University California San Francisco. I remained at UCSF for a fellowship in Consult liaison psychiatry (also known as Psychosomatic Psychiatry). During these years, I also honed my psychotherapy skills at San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute, completing three years of training at PPTP, to become a psychoanalytically-oriented psychodynamic psychotherapist. I’ve continued to attend year-long programs in trauma and anxiety treatment to add both depth and breadth to my therapeutic skills. I’ve recently moved to Western North Carolina and provide services to patients in California and North Carolina.
I am a wife and mother. My family teaches me humility, joy, and improved time management.
What I Offer
At your intake, we will gather detailed information to assess your wellness and for the possibility of psychopathology including unaddressed depression, anxiety, substance use, bipolar disorder, psychosis. We will investigate your lifestyle including sleep, movement, meals, and both prescribed and non prescribed drugs. We will explore your hormonal status. We may collect your history from other medical and non-medical providers including Primary Doctors, Specialty Doctors, Psychotherapists, and Somatic Practitioners. We will collect routine labs and possibly genetic tests.
After a thorough assessment, I will provide you with a plan for psychological and physical interventions based on your goals. This may include medication initiation. At this point, the initial consultation will be completed.
If you would like to proceed to work with me, we will then transition into a working phase during which we may utilize medications, psychotherapies, nutritional recommendations, exercise plans, and other somatic work (massage, acupuncture, etc.)
